Special Scholarship scheme for Tribal students

Governor Punjab and Gujarat today launched
special scholarship scheme for the tribal students Supported by Aryans
Group of Colleges, Chandigarh.
The Scholarship was launched during Aryans
National Seminar on “Empowering Youth of Tribal States in India.” held today at
PHD Chamber, Sector-31, Chandigarh
Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, the Governor of
Punjab, Haryana and U.T. Administrator was the Chief Guest while Sh. O.P.
Kohli, Governor, Gujarat and Sh. Madan Mohan Mittal, Technical Education
Minister, Punjab were the Guests of Honour on the occasion. Dr. Anshu Kataria,
Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh presided over the event.
Sh. Kaptan Singh Solanki, while speaking on the
occasion said, “I have recently visited Aryans Campus and was happy to see
around 3000 students from Different states, caste, colour, creed etc who
are studying there which is a live example of unity & cultural diversity. He
stressed upon Digital India and Make in India Campaign. People who always talk
about intolerance should learn from such campuses. He appreciated Aryans
efforts to bring various associations of tribal states on a single platform.
While launching the scholarship scheme Dr. Anshu Kataria said that though there are
many centre and state sponsored scholarship schemes but amount given under
these is not enough to cover entire education. Considering the same Aryans has
decided to extend helping hands to Tribal Students.
As per the Aryans Scholarship scheme 100
meritorious students will be selected from tribal areas in which 35% of the
scholarship will be paid by Aryans Group, other 50% part will be paid by the
State Government and the remaining 15% part will be borne by the
students. Toll free scholarship helpline i.e.1800-30000-388 was also
launched for tribal students.
Shri O.P. Kohli, Governor Gujarat speaking on
the occasion said that Gujarat Government has set up 95 Science Stream higher
secondary schools in tribal regions, ITIs, Engineering, Nursing and Agriculture
colleges in every talukas.
Sh. Kohli further added that apart from
Technical Education others sectors should also be touched including health
sector, Malnutrition should be erected, vocational courses should be added to
make the people self reliant, tribals should be involved in administration so
they can feel the need of common man and agriculture sector should be
strengthened to generate more employment opportunities.
Sh. Madan Mohan Mittal, Punjab Technical
Education Minister, said that Punjab has emerged as destination for Tribal
students of India. Punjab has 360 Under Graduate, 75 Post Graduate, 102
engineering and 193 Polytechnic Colleges. He added Punjab has better
infrastructure and employment opportunity. He appreciated the efforts done by
Aryans to become the preferred destination for Tribal students for Technical
and Higher education.
On the other hand the Tribal Students
Associations highlighted few problems faced by them in the
region. They said that keeping in view the high standards of Education provided
by the Institutes and cost of living in the region the amount of scholarship
should be hiked and it should be paid well in time to continue their studies
uninterrupted. They also said that stringent rules should be made to prevent
racial incidents in the Country.
On the occasion many renowned speakers spoke
about the issues and challenges of Tribal community. Mr Som nath (Tribal
Research Scholar), Dr. Chandan Lal (Senior advisor Lahaul & Spiti
student association). Mr Kerma Gyaso(Sikkim student association) Mr.Yomli Kato
& Mr Nibaj Ligu(Arunachal students association). Mr.Mritunjay Hazarika(
Assam students association), Ms Rinzing( Himachal Pradesh students
association), Mr Stanzin Dawa(Director Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth
development) shared their views about the upliftment of Tribal communities in
India.

Roshan Lal Kataria (Founder, Aryans); Mrs Rajni Kataria (Treasurer); Dr.
Parveen Kataria (Director General; Prof. B.S Sidhu (Registrar), Sh Pankaj
Aggarwal, Sh Sumit Govil, J.S Nayyar, president, CMA were also present on the
occasion.
